Valentine's Day

Matt and I decided not to go too crazy with Valentine's Day gifts this year. We didn't want to be spending money just because it was Valentine's Day. We decided to not get each other gifts and just have a great family day with a yummy meal. Though we did get some great gifts for Kinley.

Well Matt decided he could not not buy anything so he did buy me a box of mixed caramels. He is so silly. On Saturday I worked all day so him and Kinley hung out. At one point I asked what they were doing and he said "Making a present." I really could've killed him. We decided on no presents. So I sure felt like a jerk.

I walked in the door and Kinley comes running telling me, "we made a cake." It was the cutest! She was jumping up and down talking about her making a cake. I turn the corner and Matt was standing there with a smirk, like yes that is what we did. They are so dang cute! They made me heart shaped cake with homemade chocolate chip icing. Kinley was so proud of the cake she made with daddy. It was really tasty too!!

We wanted to get some good steaks for our Valentine's dinner so we went to the Fresh Market across town. We picked up two new york strips, a few potatoes and some asparagus, all for $22! We both would so much rather stay in and cook then go out to eat. It is way cheaper and I can guarantee our meal will be pretty close to perfect. I get so frustrated when we go out to eat and things are not correct or you get crappy service. Going out to eat is so expensive, it needs to be an enjoyable experience. So that is why we eat in. Plus we get to be with Kinley too!

We also did some crafting for the baby's room! I am so exited to finally have something hanging on the wall! Kinley helped with painting the letters for his name as well. She loves so much to help do things for her brother. I love watching her be so proud of her accomplishments.

I hope you all had a great Valentine's Day weekend! Ours was perfect! I love spending quality time with my family.

Valentine Goodies for the Littles Year 2

I love putting together fun little gifts for the holidays. I think Valentines's Day might be one of my favorites to put together. Now it is by no means my favorite holiday I just love finding goodies for Kinley. They have so many cute ideas. Last year I did a post, so if you are looking for things for a younger age you can check out that one here. Here are my picks for his year.

1. Heart PJs: I really don't think you can go wrong with these pjs from Carters. We love their clothes and who doesn't love hearts.

2. Plates and Silverware: Target $1 bins for the win again!! Must I say more! They really have the best things in those bins.

3. Hat and Mittens: I love how soft these are. I ordered these from an Instagram shop but she has an etsy shop as well called The Posh Plum. I don't think our winter has really hit us yet so I know these will come in handy. They have so many cute hats!!

4. Love You More Shirt: What is Valentine's Day without a cute shirt. This one is from Carter's. I am still on the lookout for cute leggings!

5. Biscuit: Kinley loves any Biscuit book. I am always looking for new ones. She is sure to love this one. I wouldn't mind adding a few more Valentine's Day books so if you have any suggestions please share!

6. Rain Boots: Hearts, hearts and more hearts. I have been looking for rain boots for Kinley for quite some time now. I was so excited to find these at Target and they were only $20! I really want the Hunter boots but these will have to do for now :)

7. Matching Hello Shirts: I have been wanting to get matching shirts and I feel in love with these Hello shirts. I can't wait to match us.

Do you have any other fun ideas to add?

Our Weekend In Pictures

We had a pretty great weekend, besides all the working we had to do. We were able to get some family time in as well as hang out with some friends.

Thursday Kinley and I hung out and made a festive fruit salad for the BBQ. She helped me cut the stars and dump the blueberries in the bowl. One star for the bowl and one for her mouth. I really should've put a bib on her because she was a mess after cutting and eating watermelon. Not sure what I was thinking.

While she was napping I was able to paint my nails. They looked cute until they all chipped off.

After nap we decorated cookies. I initially wanted to make star cookies but was only able to get a few stars out of the batch. Oh well they were still festive too. She wasn't into decorating the cookies as much as I had thought she would be, nor did she eat as many cookies as I thought she would. What was she thinking! Silly girl. We had such a great morning/afternoon.

It was suppose to start raining but we had BBQ plans and were really hoping the rain would hold out. And wouldn't you know it did....right up until it was time to leave. It started down pouring and we were all still BBQing at the pool. We decided to use the towels and make a run for the car. Kinley thought it was hilarious and wanted nothing to do with the towel I had on her head. We were soaked by the time we got to the car! Rain and all we had a blast BBQing with friends. Kinley had a blast walking in and out of the pool and making friends with the little girl that was there. It was helpful for us to get some adult conversations in while she was occupied. Of course we were watching her like a hawk being by the water. There is nothing that scares me more than unsupervised children around water. It only takes one second! We had such a fun evening. And we were home by 8:00pm. HAHA we are an old married couple with a kid.

She's totally cheesing in that last picture. It is too cute! When I ask her to say smile she says "CHEESE" and closes her eyes. Too cute!

Friday I worked for half the day but then we went to the inlaws for another BBQ. Kinley hung out with Daddy all day and they went to the pet store to look. Kinley almost had daddy talked into another kitty...almost! She even brought them a toy. Kinley loves spending time with her Nanny and Poppy. Poppy has quite the pumpkin patch growing that she loves to look at. We all ate a yummy dinner and had great conversations. After we got home Kinley got a bath and she went to bed, Matt and I enjoyed some time on the couch while watching Orange is the New Black. And yes again we went to bed early. We really are old...or just really smart :)

Saturday I worked all day and got home in time for dinner. Matt had already left for work so Kinley was enjoying some more time with Nanny and Poppy. We truly are so fortunate to have such wonderful grandparents that Kinley can spend time with. They also brought over a wonderful surprise! A water table. They are so silly though. I had mentioned I wanted to get her a water table when we were there BBQing on Friday and what do you know they show up with a water table. Thank you sooooo much! I am sure there will be many hours of fun with that. She is definitely a water baby.

Sunday we did the usual; grocery shopping and meal prepping for the week. More fun with the water table and some much needed family of 3 time. I promise she had a good time on the dragon. She loves that thing!

I hope everyone had a wonderful 4th of July and was safe! Have a wonderful week! By the way, I am loving this pony she has going on. Don't mind all the watermelon on her shirt.

Happy Monday.

Healthy 4th of July Plans

4th of July is fastly approaching! What does everyone have planned for this festive weekend?

Matt and I will both be working the majority of it but that's ok. You've got to make sacrifices when exciting things are in the future! More on that at a later date!

We will get some fun BBQing with friends before the work filled weekend starts. I was thinking about trying to make a new patriotic yummy dessert for the festivities. I was contemplating putting all these patriotic colors into one dish and creating something yummy. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I'm excited to take Kinley swimming and enjoy some much needed time with great friends!

Happy Wednesday! Hope everyone has a wonderful day!

Catch Up

How is next weekend 4th of July? I can't believe we are half way through the year already. Happy Friday! This weekend we are finally back to our normal schedules. After being in Colorado and then another wedding next weekend things have been so crazy.

We had so much fun at our friend Chelsea and Tony's wedding last weekend. It was much needed adult time and Matt and I had a blast with everyone! Congrats to the newlyweds.

We had a wonderful Father's Day and Kinley made Matt new pictures for his frame on his desk at work. And I thought it was hard to get pictures last year, not so much!

This week has been so busy with all the catch up at work and home. I have been so tired but am finally getting back into the swing of things. We are going to enjoy a fun filled family Friday, so a short post for today.

Enjoy the pictures and I hope everyone has a wonderful Friday.
